Our Mission

to make eating disorder training more equitable and accessible, and aligned with antiracist, HAES®, and social justice paradigms.

Our Goal

to educate & empower competent ED clinicians, who will do less harm and help more people.

Our Why

As far as we know, an inclusive, HAES® aligned, antiracist, and comprehensive ED training does not exist. We developed this training to offer an alternative to the available “standard” trainings that leave so many people with eating disorders behind.

We are acutely aware that traditional educational programs for therapists and dietitians do not adequately teach students about eating disorders or how to effectively treat them. It also has to be said that traditional higher educational programs often and accidentally perpetuate harmful myths about eating disorders, exercise, body image and body size, and recovery. The treatment of eating disorders requires significant continuing education that is traditionally difficult to access. We strive to change that.

People fighting to recover deserve better care that takes into account and honors all of their identities, especially marginalized and oppressed identities. And that starts with better, more accessible education for the clinicians that do this important work.

What our contributors are saying

Yasmine Mavrakis, RD, LD

“The detail and depth of this training is what we’ve been looking for in our space! It uniquely holds elements typically missing from traditional eating disorder/ intuitive eating conversations and education, in particular intersections on structural racism, ableism, and more.

It’s a privilege to get to collaborate with this group of brilliant clinician contributors in a way that radically challenges and encourages change in the way we practice. This training will leave folks feeling empowered with a combination of both skills and knowledge for more confidently improving our eating disorder treatments.”

Haley Daroowala, LMFT-Associate

“For a newer therapist, I believe this training can be a game changer for someone who wants to work with this population. We receive no real education in our grad programs regarding helping people with eating disorders. This training is an alternative to limited trainings out there and is SO MUCH BETTER than just learning on the job, like most clinicians have had to do for way too long.”

Mollyanne Vasquez, LCSW

This training is an absolute game changer. My early training in eating disorder treatment was on the job, which leaves lots of room for client harm along the way. I also found this education to be white washed and with little understanding on the intersectionality between gender identity and one's relationship with food and body. The Inclusive Eating Disorder Education model fills all of these gaps in ED treatment while remaining incredibly accessible to practitioners.”

Sawyer Greer, MS, RD, LD

“This training is incredible! It can be really hard to find eating disorder trainings that are inclusive and trauma informed. This training is all of the above! I absolutely recommend it to anyone who is working directly or indirectly with folks that have eating disorders or disordered eating.”

Riana Fletcher, LPC-Associate

“This training is unmatched in its thoroughness and inclusivity of all parts of eating disorders.  For those interested in and wanting to know more about how to treat eating disorders, this is the training for you! It touches on the history, the understanding, and all the moving parts that are included within an eating disorder. This training is useful for all types of professionals needing a better understanding of where eating disorders come from and what options are available for treatments.”

Holly Wise, RD, LD

“I had no real exposure to eating disorder treatment education in my dietetics program. I wish I would have had something like this training to help me prepare for my work with people with eating disorders. It would have helped me feel more prepared and confident from the start.”

Mia Vargas, MS, RD, LD

“The IEDS training was incredible! I learned so much about providing inclusive, affirming care to folks struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, and poor body image. I have been putting all of this great new information into practice with my clients already! I honestly feel so much more competent and confident in the care I provide.”

Hannah Auldridge, RD, LD

“This training has been incredibly valuable in my work with eating disorders and has so much great information. My dietetics program provided minimal education on eating disorders so I had a lot to learn when I started in the eating disorder field. I have significantly improved my practice thanks to this training, and I continue to refer to it when needed!”
